Sometimes I just need a Mini-Vacation

I have just returned from my "mini-vacation," and it made me realize several things.  First of all, I am overworked.  Second, I never treat myself to anything nice.  And lastly, it is absolutely amazing how spending time in a hotel about an hour away can feel like a fantastic getaway.

In truth, my "mini-vacation" was actually an academic conference that I, thankfully, did not need to present at.  Usually, I am a big ball of stress at these things as I rehearse my paper in front of a mirror and freak out trying to pick out the perfect outfit.  However, this was such a great experience.  I stayed in a beautiful hotel (all expenses paid!), ate lovely food, and listened to people in my field talk about issues I was interested in.  I do not think it gets much better than that!  So when I returned back to my cramped apartment, it made me a little bit sad.  I think it was a wake-up call for me.  It was telling me that everybody needs to get away from it all sometimes.  I spoke to J. and I think I want to go back there when I am doing archival research.  I just want to stay in a nice place, enjoy the sun, and get some work done in the most relaxing way possible.  I don't know if I can make that happen at this point, but I can certainly make a concerted effort to get it done.

So no origami news from me today.  After my whirlwind weekend, I am back into work mode as I try to catch up.  I have high hopes that I can take some photos of my origami bento box (complete with folded sushi) soon!
